I’ve shared some bird photographs in the past that have had a twig or leave that was near (but not overlapping) the bird removed using Lightroom’s AI Remove tool. Today’s topic is a little different in that what has been removed is not natural, but it still distracts. Below is a photograph of a Black-bellied Plover I recently took at Montrose Beach, Chicago. In the foreground is a scrap of wet paper (Montrose Beach has a lot of people there on a sunny summer day).
It’s easy-peasy to remove that paper so the beach now looks tidier.
So, my fellow bird photographers, is it OK to use AI to remove an object that is distracting but in the process of doing so, doesn’t affect the image of the bird? I welcome your comments and will publish a white paper on AI use on Great Bird Pics in the near future.
