One of the most challenging shots is a BIF (Bird in Flight). Even though we can shoot digitally at 20-40 frames per second, making it easier to get a couple of good ones, it’s still hard to even locate a flying bird in the viewfinder long enough for the camera to attain focus on the bird. Today I feature some pics in which the photographer did end up with a great BIF Shot.
We start things off from Daltsysnr’s picture of an Eastern Spinebill taken in his backyard in Australia. The breast looks much like our American Robin but the head is definitely unique.
Our newest member Bob hasn’t shied away from posting some of his Great Bird Pics. Here’s one of Bob’s – a Red-shouldered Hawk flying over him in perfect light.
Either Avneet Kaur was flying or this Peregrine Falcon was low to the ground. Either way she got an eye-level shot of one as it sped past her.
It is very difficult to find an American Bittern on the ground – and rarer to see one fly past you. Luckily Mike Affinito had his camera ready to grab this shot as it flew past.
