Black-Crowned Night-Heron Down By The Old Mill Pond

A recent eBird report indicated that a Black-Crowned Night-Heron (BCNH) had been seen near Graue Mill in Hinsdale, IL.  Now a museum, Graue Mill was erected in 1852 along side of the Salt Creek.  The BCNH is not a rare bird but not commonly seen so we had to search for it.  It took about 90 seconds to find it!  Looking down near the bottom of the 8′ high falls over the dam, the BCNH crept along the river bank in search of breakfast.  The pictures below don’t need much narration: the BCNH searched for a fish, grabbed one, gulped it down, flew across the river, and then sat in a tree overlooking the river.

Stay Safe.  Go Birding.  Take Pics.  Post Here.  Repeat.
