Karen and I recently went on a trip to California with our Birding Buddies Mark, Emil, and Bonnie. We had a blast searching out birds from the Big Sur to Bodega Bay (just north of San Francisco). I haven’t had time to do any processing of my 5,000+ photos so I wanted to feature a couple of Emil and Bonnie’s pics from our trip.
First off, Emil’s picture of a male California Quail. At first we didn’t think we were going to see any but once we got further north we were almost tripping over them. This one came out and posed nicely, showing its beautiful colors and detail. Nice work, Emil!
One of my favorite birding spots was along the coast, particularly the tidal pools. We would time our arrival at low tide, when the crevices where starfish and sea anemones could be found. Bonnie captured this great picture of a Wondering Tattler as it fed in the shallows on the exposed mollusks.
