Featuring Members’ Pic

GBP Notes 12/9/20

Good Morning GreatBirdPics Members!

We’ve had some really interesting images uploaded lately.  Let’s take a look:

First up, a closeup of a Bald Eagle.  It’s a stunning picture, and even more so when you take into account the difficult lighting – the sun comes from the back of the head, and even though it is in shadow the face is sharp and properly exposed.

Here’s another closeup.  Some often dismiss the Grackle as just another “black bird.”  Yet its true colors are displayed when caught in full sunlight.  Great shot LinLark!

One doesn’t see owls this exposed in the open but Will139 spotted this Barred Owl asleep on a high branch.  Glad you found it!

Emil Baumbach says that the Hooded Merganser is a “Bully.”  I’ve never observed that but I will look for it now.  Great pic of a male with the hood extended.

Go birding.  Take pictures.  Share here.  Repeat.

Happy birding!

Mike
