GBP Members Bird Photography Showcase – 4 /16/26

Looking around the Latest Pics gallery these five pics caught my eye.

Never one to pass up a reflection pic, here’s a Lesser Yellowlegs from docshaf.

I featured black birds the other day, then this shot of a Common Raven came in from Asteinmann.  He caught it in a parking lot in Utah.  He captured a lot of detail on the bird, perhaps due to the angle of the sun.

Sylvester Alphonso photographed a Bar Headed Goose in India.  Click the pic and read his Description about how this bird is able to withstand a lack of oxygen as it flys over the Himalaya Mountains.

Here’s a shot of a female Pileated Woodpecker, which Paul Demkovich said is creating a nest hole with her mate.  Hoping Paul gets some shots of the progress of the nest and hopefully some chicks in the future.

Finally, here’s a shot from Lorjoh93 of a leucistic Northern Cardinal being fed by another Cardinal.  Leucistic is a genetic disorder that causes most feathers to turn white.  It is different from albinism in that albinism turns every feather white and turns the eyes red; leucistic birds often have patches of color and normal eye color.
