Thanks to all who have been submitting their Great Bird Pics! So many have been posted recently I can’t feature them, all so here are select few for your viewing pleasure:
Sylvester Alphonso from India regularly posts bird pics from his Country and he always includes some interesting facts about the bird. Click to pic to learn about this Shikra and how it got its name.
The Bufflehead is one of my favorite waterfowl – they usually come down to Illinois about this time of year (when the open water up north has frozen over). It’s one of my favorites because of the colorful, iridescent head. Thanks docshaf for sharing this one.
Finally, another Great Bird Pic from our member from the Netherlands, Zeno Swijtink. As in his Bird of the Week photo last Friday, Zeno carefully crops the image down so the viewers’ attention is drawn to the Eurasian Sparrowhawk’s eyes and its feet standing on the frozen lake.
