Going Down!
Oftentimes backlit photos of birds don’t turn out very well. It’s hard to see any detail and the whole image looks washed out. Then comes along Emil Baumbach. This stunning image of a Red-tailed Hawk shows a sharp outline of the bird – the talons in particular stand out. We see very little detail of the bird’s field-marks or even color. But the silhouette tells a story of a raptor depending on its prey. Well done, Emil!
