As I was reviewing BIF photographs for yesterday’s Members’ Showcase I came across Bajadreamer’s shot of a Mallard coming in for a landing. I was impressed with the amount of detail captured in the shot – from the duck’s webbed feet to the slashes of water spraying into the air. He used a shutter speed of 1/4000th of a second to stop all that action (something to remember in the future). It was so good I had to make it the Bird Photograph of the Week. Great Bird Pic Bajadreamer!
PS – did you notice that the frame is cropped wider than normal? This gives lots of space on the right for the Mallard to land, which is an effective technique that lets the viewer imagine where the action is going.
