Great Bird Pics Members’s Showcase 8/20/26

During our “Birds of Prey With Prey” Contest (results by the end of the month) most of the pics being shared were for the contest.  Now that the contest is over we’re agin getting a great variety of shots from our members from around the world.  Take a look:

We begin with a great shot of an Acorn Woodpecker taken by Avneet Kaur in Arizona.  I think of a clown-face when I see one of these.  Very nice composition, Avneet!

Bill Maginn, a relatively new member, was in Singapore when he got this pic of a Chestnut-bellied Malkoha.  Click the pic and read his description to find out where he was when he took it.  Would you go there?

Over to New Zealand where Rebecca Bowater took this BIF shot of a small flock of Pied Stilts.  What struck me was that all the birds were in focus.  Usually a flock like this is of varied distances from the camera so some end up out of focus, but note that Rebecca increased her depth-of-field by setting her Aperture to 10.  I’d give this shot a 10!

Now over to Mumbai, India where Sylvester Alphonso found this beautiful Greater Coucal.  Click the pic to read why local communities don’t harm or hunt it.
