GreatBirdPics’ Bird Photography Showcase – 5/14/26

A vast majority of pictures shared lately were entered in our “In and Around Water” Contest (results soon) but in between the entries many interesting pics have been added to our Latest Pics gallery.  Here are some that caught my eye:

I’ll let docshaf’s Description tell you how he created this one: “A male prairie warbler caught in take-off composed in a minimally cropped Photoshop composite image shot at 40 fps comprising 0.23 sec elapsed time.”  In other words, as the bird took off he held down the shutter button and captured about 9 images. He took four of them and put them into the same Photoshop frame and voilá!   Great technique!!

We only see about 5 different Tanagers in the United States, but in Central and South America there is an amazing array of colorful Tanagers.  Suren Vispute was outside of Mindo, Ecuador when he captured this Black-capped Tanager.

Meanwhile, out in Utah Mike Affinito captured this beautiful image of a Cinnamon Teal taking off as the sun rose.

Finally, let’s go down to Argentina with Paul Demkovich where he captured this Snowy Sheathbill on the side of a rock face.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bird that was this pure white!
