GreatBirdPics Members’ Showcase – 7/2/26

Hi Guys!  First off, the website is slowly getting back to normal – thanks for your patience.  Most of the major problems have been corrected, except the Navigation Arrows.  These usually appear on the left and right sides of a single photo allowing you to navigate to the next/previous one.  One member reported that none of his uploaded pictures appear in his My Flock section – please check yours and let me know if your Great Bird Pics are still there!  I’m still finding some little issues that shouldn’t interfere with your use of the site but if you find any other problems or glitches, please reply to the email with details.  Glad I paid so much money to get the upgrade…

I’m actually back home for a long stretch so hopefully I can keep up the work on the site and processing my Alaska pictures.

I took a look at some of the most recent pictures to highlight for you – I’ll go back a little further for some more next week.  Enjoy!

Here’s a two-fer.  First, Birder2011 posted this sharp picture of a male Common Yellowthroat with a bug in its beak – she speculated that it was for chicks back at the nest.  She said the Commn Yellowthroat is her “Spark Bird”, or the bird that first caught her attention and lit the “spark” for birding.

So then docshaf sees the above picture as he is out and about and happens to get a pic of another Common Yellowthroat!  He dedicated it to Birder2011!  Docshaf says this is his “second” spark bird – what’s his first?  By the way, Common Yellowthroat is my “Spark Bird” too!  What’s yours?

We’ve all probably seen Red-winged Blackbirds chasing a raptor (hawk, eagle, etc.) but I’ve never seen them chasing a Great Egret.  Great Bird Pic, Bob!

Finally, Ronald Zigler captured a Yellow-throated Warbler.  I love the black background yet the bird is in the full sunlight.  Great shot!
