During our Canadian Rockies bird trip this past summer we stopped for lunch at a campground in Waterton Lakes National Park. A Rufous Hummingbird had a favorite perch just off the porch of the camp store so I positioned myself nearby and took a shot every time it landed there. I was amazed at the variability of the colors displayed on its gorget! From yellow to red to brown to black all in a matter of seconds! Take a look:
