Mike’s Monday Pics – TX3

Mike’s Monday Pics – TX3

I’m still digging through my picts taken in Texas this past spring with my birding buddies Mike, Bonnie, Mark, and of course Karen.  These pictures were all taken at Estero Llano Grande State Park, a wonderful place to wander around and see lots of birds (we saw 56 species the day we went).

This Great Egret was perched atop a snag in the midst of a marsh.  It reminded me of the pose in The Karate Kid that won the match!

A Yellow-crowned Night Heron sat within a marsh full of cattails and I was struck by all the vertical stalks and feathers in the shot.

This pair of White-faced Ibis were foraging for food in a pond with lots of different birds in it.  The Roseate Spoonbill in the background makes it a more interesting picture.

This Olive Sparrow eluded us on several previous attempts but it was very cooperative in the back of an unused campsite in Estero Llano Grande State Park.

Thrashers are aways fierce-looking birds and this Long-billed Thrasher is no exception.  That golden eye looks right at you in this shot.
