Solitary Sandpiper

Are They Lonely?

I have spotted these shorebirds in the woods before but they usually take off before I can get a shot – this one was so busy foraging in the mud it didn’t notice me at first. Also saw a spotted sandpiper nearby but too far away for a good photo.
