Pileated woodpecker

This is one of several pileated woodpeckers in the ‘back yard’. Typically, I have a difficult time capturing an image of these birds as they are rather elusive. Her calls gave me notice that she was in the near vicinity, so I grabbed my camera and caught a quick shot.

Pileateds are our favorites, too. We were looking for one all winter one and finally caught sight of a male yesterday.
