Amazon Kingfisher
I was taking a picture of an Amazon Kingfisher recently in the Cano Negro region of Costa Rica. These birds are easily approachable by boat in this area and are great fun to photograph. Often I see quizzical looks from birds that hear my camera clicking with burst shooting, but in this situation I attracted the attention of a bird that I did not even see when I took the shot. This is a Hoffman’s Woodpecker emerging from the hole in the stump to see what is going on. This is actually a partially sunken limb in the middle of the Rio Frio; I would think it would be a risky place to build a nest.
