There is only one breeding site in NZ. Here is an adult Kotuku with chicks on their nest

Always interesting to see the species counterpart to our North American birds. Appearance wise this is certainly the equivalent of our Great Egret.

These herons nest in the bush near the river and the sea.
This is the only place that Kotuku nest in NZ
