The first time I laid eyes on this bird was last spring. I stalked it for two days hoping to get a good shot in good light and even though you can only see the front of the bird here, this was the best I could get.
Fun fact about the MOWA ~ According to Audubon website the MOWA got its name because “the extensive black throat patch suggested to pioneer naturalists that the bird was dressed in mourning”
