One of my favorite birds showed up at Waukegan Beach this morning. Conditions: 37 degrees, high winds and drizzling. Perfect weather for a Purple Sandpiper. This species is in constant motion feeding in and along rocks. Getting any kind of a shot is no easy task. I took 300 photos this morning and this one is my favorite. I walked out on a very dicey pier and laid down and waited for this bird to walk by.
