It’s rare that migrating ducks visit our pond in the fall, so I was beyond excited to see these two Ring-necked Ducks swimming in it today! This was the first species (that wasn’t a Mallard) I ever spotted on our pond three years ago when we first moved here, and was one of the sparks that got me interested in backyard birdwatching and photography.

Interesting tale of how the Ring-necked was a spark bird for you! In your own backyard, nonetheless!
