when I arrived, the sandpiper was at the end of the pier feeding on some rocks. I decided to lay down on my stomach and wait to see if the sandpiper would approach. After about a half hour, he started making his way up the pier and ended up just a couple of feet from me (this is one of the last shots I got before the sandpiper approached within the minimum focus distance on my lens. Just goes to show what a little patience can get you.
