Common Redpoll ~ Rosy Male

A few Redpolls were feeding on the ground eating seeds when this one popped up for a quick shot. I love the rosy breasts on the males.

I can tell right away when looking at an Emil pic – sharp and uncluttered. The Redpoll is another great example.

Thanks Lin. They are one of my favorite winter visitors. You are lucky to have one visiting your feeder. They seem to be here in big numbers this year.

I feel very lucky, the numbers in the yard are growing and I heard they peak in February. Hoping to see a few more males like this one, as I’ve mostly seen females and immatures.
