Another duck I’ve only ever seen from a long distance. This time in good light and closer although not the most colorful duck in the bunch.

The female Gadwall certainly has her positive attributes. Is the peak at the front of her head that high or was something else going on?
This one is actually a male. The females have more brownish streaking in the feathers and resemble female mallards. The steep forehead I think is normal for this duck.
