sometimes during the wintery month in the Chicago IL area we get some rare travelers. This Common Redpoll is usually found up north and occasionally comes down to the Illinois area.. On this particular day I was watching some Blackbirds and noticed this guy hanging out on the tall grass.. As it was landing the grass could not support it’s weight and it would bend over.. I waited for just the right shot when the bird was in just the right position.. This by no means was taken with one shot,,, That’s the advantage of DSLR’s over Film camera days.. “Spray and prey”. Just hold that shutter button down and see what you get..
