Buff-tailed Coronet

Photos of hummers, whether perching or flying

Viewed 7 Times

Love the challenge of photographing hummingbirds, whether in flight or perched. When perched, goal is to get the maximum color possible. This is a Sapphire-vented Puffleg from Ecuador. A common hummer that likes the high altitude, this shot was taken at about 2500 meters. Shot with a Canon R5, 600 mm f/4.0 lens at f/4.0, SS 1/1600, ISO 6400. If you are interested in taking shots of this bird, Zuro Loma Reserve is the best (IMO) spot to do so.

I made a mistake that was pointed out by a friend on Flickr. This is not a Sapphire-vented Puffleg; rather it is a a Buff-tailed Coronet. Sorry about that.

Thanks for sharing all the beautiful Ecuadorian birds with us! I really enjoy the diversity of the birds and the striking colors, too.
