Owls are very illusive and sometimes hard to spot. Most times they blend into their environments so well we walk past them without even noticing them.. This time the Long-eared owl was out in the open, first time for me seeing one like this.. I always take the birds stress level in consideration when I photograph them.. We always want that eyes wide open looking at me shot, but for the sake of the bird, I’d rather have a sleeping owl anytime.. I’m sure this guy knew I was there, but didn’t mind my few shots and leaving to much.

Very nice LEO shot Jamie. I never saw any at SZB.
Owls are so fascinating. And the Long-eared seems so special.
