This is among the most unique hummingbirds in the world. It has evolved with one of the most specific adaptations of any bird, a bill that is longer than its body. The bill allows it to feed in deep flowers that other hummingbirds cannot reach. That is the good news for the hummer; the bad news is that it also had to develop an entirely new system of grooming itself. This is the Sword-billed Hummingbird, a high altitude bird. It lives in the high Andes from Colombia to Peru and Bolivia, usually between 7500 and 10,000 feet. .
