Purple Finch

Purple Finch

This male popped in near a feeder but didn’t stay long. It was late in the day and the lighting was poor but I was tickled to get a shot. To get both sexes was a bonus. I wish more of these birds were in our area. The male is just stunning.

Gosh, I am not sure about poor lighting. You caught the colors of this bird quite well. BG, sharpness, pose, great colors. I think this image is memorable. I see these birds occasionally where I am at (San Diego County, CA). Often it is difficult to distinguish them from House Finches, but in your shot that is a “no doubter”.

I see the female much more often than the male. Wonderful shots of both!

Absolutely gorgeous shot. I had one in my yard a few years ago, haven’t seen one since, though they seem a little more common this winter. Hoping to see one again soon.
