This is only the second bird I have photographed ever, and so a very exciting lifer for me as well despite how common the bird is! A little group of them were hanging on my porch in the morning nibbling at seed I had accidentally spilled the week before. The brick itself is important because my boyfriend is a local history buff and collects them (they were manufactured by a now obsolete but once incredibly important brick manufacturer local to our region), making this photo extra fun.

Thanks for sharing your Junco picture and just as importantly (to me) the story behind the brick. I really brings the image to a higher level. I can tell that the sun was behind the Junco – that’s why the front is shaded. Try to get another pic of one when the sun is facing it (the sun will be at your back). Good luck!
