As I was walking on a gravel path I heard a Killdeer call but never saw the bird. 100 yards later I was setting up to shoot Black-necked Stilts and unsuspectingly put my tripod feet from this Killdeer nest. It was only after the bird put on the broken wing trick did I even notice the nest or the bird. I slowly moved further down to leave the bird in peace. I’m not sure if making your nest on the path was the best idea but hopefully the birds will hatch in a few days and all will be good. The three eggs really blend in beautifully with the setting.

Wonderful shot of the Killdeer and nest. You really have to look for the eggs. I had a similar experience in Canada and will share the pics shortly.
