European Goldfinch
These beautiful birds are showing up more often in the Chicagoland area. I’m a huge fan and always try to get a photo when I see them. This adult is enjoying a few thistle seeds in the early morning. They associate with American Goldfinch and can be seen together sometimes on the same thistle plant.

I would have never expected such a colorful bird to show up in the Chicago area. Besides the amazing colors, the bird looks really clean.
There is a little thistle remains on his face but yes he is overall very clean.
