Green Heron with tadpole

We often walk the trails at Stu Visser Trail. We watched as this Green Heron waited for an opportunity to find food. It stopped and watched and slowly walked through the duckweed in its search for food. Acting very quickly, it dipped its head into the water and came out with a prize. A tadpole!

How does the Green Heron know the tadpole was there? No way could it see through the algae. Sensed it with its feet? Wonders of the natural world.
