What made this photo opportunity especially noteworthy, was that the utility pole on which the Merlin was perched and eating was at a busy intersection during rush hour. I have, by the way, learned to take note of utility poles for this reason: Merlins appear to like a nice flat surface upon which to dine. Like us.
