This immature blue jay started visiting me in the middle of summer. I first noticed him when he landed on my head. For the next few weeks he would show up every time I went outside and beg for food. Unfortunately, it appears that someone had probably taken him as a chick and attempted to hand rear him. When he was released, he didn’t need to feed himself. After a few weeks, he stopped coming by, and I have to hope he figured out how to survive on his own. This particular image was taken with a macro lens. I am visible in the eye’s reflection if you look closely.

Interesting conjecture on the origins of the Jay. Thanks for pointing out your reflection – I would have missed it otherwise.
