One of the residents of the local pond is a female Belted Kingfisher, and recently I observed her in-flight. This is a heavily cropped photo because she was at least 30 or 40 yards away closer to the opposite shore. I also did some heavy noise reduction because I had to shoot at a shutter speed and high ISO to compensate. Kingfishers are tough to photograph and I was happy walking away with this one. I was hoping she’d fly closer, but no luck.

Thanks Mike! I’ve tried to photograph this bird quite a few times over the past year (presuming it’s the same bird) and I’m indeed happy to finally get this photo. It wasn’t easy!
