House Finch
This House Finch was photographed near Oaxaca, Mexico, in south central Mexico. This was truly a “thorn forest”, a large area of cacti and thorny bushes. Amazing how many different species of birds lived there though. This individual was quite cooperative and you can see by the deep shadows, the sun was low early in the morning, which exaggerated the beautiful colors.

The judges in the Obscured Bird contest took note of your Oaxacan House Finch shot. It really stood out as it peeked out from the cactus.
Brave bird, tough skin or both!
