During the winters in Baja Sur, these birds, a Pyrrhuloxia, were fairly common. They spent a great deal of time deep in the thorn bushes that abounded there. This shot was taken after I had been peering into this bush for several minutes. The curiosity of the bird finally overcame its tendency to sit still and hide and he poked his head out to look at me.
