In the Shadow of an Extinct Volcano

This Scaly-breasted Hummingbird was seen on the grounds of the Arenal Paraiso Hotel, on the slopes of the Arenal Volcano. When I visited Costa Rica in 2002 the volcano was still active. When we arrived in 2018 I was surprised to find out that it was not classified as extinct.
