Scouring the marsh

Along the trail at Upper Macatawa Natural Area-84th Street was a great marsh for rails. Sometimes they are only seen as they run between the vegetation. The water levels have played havoc with this marsh. The last few years it is drying up and most vegetation has been lost. This was taken 5/12/18.

I really like the head-on view of the Virginia Rail. It looks rather ominous staring straight into the camera!

Am I landing or taking off?
