Usually these birds in breeding season have a bright white stripes on their heads.. This photo was taken just as the sunrise warmed the field. Golden Hour is always the best light in my humble opinion.

I love the colors in the White Crowned Sparrow at sunrise. Everything painted a beautiful golden hue.
