I frequently go fishing in the ocean off San Diego, CA in my son’s boat. Whenever we approach the harbor on our return, a squadron of Brown Pelicans descend on us looking for handouts. Thjis is truly “shooting fish in a barrel” as the birds approach the boat and will even take small bait fish from your hand off the stern of the boat. This was one of the last shots I took with my last DSLR, a 7D2.

That was a very colorful Brown Pelican. I’m wondering if it was exhibiting breeding plumage? Or do they always look that colorful?
