Being so large, it takes swans a while to take off. This particular mute swan appeared out o the fog in the process of taking off, and skipped along the surface of the water right past me.

I love how swans (and other large waterfowl) take a running start to their takeoffs! You captured this one just as its foot gave that extra “push” to attain flight.
