Short-eared Owl
Once again, we were driving around the farmland fields and I spotted a “lump” in the field. This was mid-day so we backed up. To our surprise, there sat this Short-eared Owl. I put the word out and a few others arrived. We were lucky it flew almost over us as it headed elsewhere. We do not see very many of this species in Ottawa County.
