I was taking photos of the gulls flying around the break walls at Holland State Park in December. I did not see this photo until I downloaded my photos. As I took in 2018, I am not sure what this Herring Gull was doing. Is it trying to get water off its feathers at the same time looking to see what is above it? Or is the head also moving around removing water? Or could it be some other reason?
This is not a sharp photo, but I am posting it because this gull’s flying posture at this particular time is something I had never seen or taken a photo of.
