This Great Blue Heron thought he could land on the small tuft in the middle of the marsh. As he landed, the floating log started to roll, and the heron spent at least a minute trying to get a stable footing. He finally flew off after the log wouldn’t stabilize.
You caught the GBH just at the right moment – nice an sharp shot! Sounds like it was acting like a log-roller on a floating log.
