I found a pair of mallards floating on the water in a small ditch at Lincoln Memorial Garden. I was able to get some good shots of the male with his eye showing. Many times I thought I had a good male male shot only to find that the eyes didn’t show up. I think that was probably because the nictitating membrane was down. I was able to see the eye clearly on this male and make sure that the membrane was not down when I took my pictures.

I can’t resist taking a picture of a male Mallard! They are so colorful. Good job getting the eye.
