I got word too late last night that a small flock of American White Pelicans had landed at the Edmonds Marsh which is partially visible from our home. Too dark to look then, I binned the Marsh this morning and saw nothing. Turns out the flock was still there in a tight group that was exactly in the wrong spot to be visible from our place. I went to the Marsh and saw the bunched flock was still there. White Pelicans are common in Spring/Summer in Eastern Washington and have begun to visit Western Washington now as well – although confined to only a couple of locations. This was the first large scale visit to our City and to Snohomish County.

I would have thought that the pelicans would have preferred to be along the coast, rather than inland. Nice pic of this one.
