White-breasted Nuthatch

On the ground?

Viewed 11 Times

This is a common bird throughout most of the USA, but I rarely see them on the ground. They are often difficult to photograph as they are constanly on the move up, down and around the tree trunk looking for tiny bugs in the bark. They are also often difficult to expose well-black and white. This one was photographed at Ramrod Ranch in Central California.

You didn’t even mention the best part – the perfect reflection in the water.
