We were walking on a trail near the Trinity River in south Texas when this Northern Parula Warbler was spotted over our heads. It was perched and singing. I took a few shots and made a short video, but the bird was backlit and in shadow. Suddenly, the bird flew down to a pile of sand directly in front of us and started hunting for a meal. Before we knew it, it had captured a green caterpillar and then flew back up into the tree to enjoy its meal. Wow! Bonus – on the ground the lighting was much better!
